Yelp Review
Boynton Beach, a captivating city in Palm Beach County, Florida, boasts a population of 80,380, as per the 2020 census. It is nestled about 57 miles north of Miami and is part of the Miami metropolitan area, home to 6,138,333 people as of the 2020 census.
The city is named after Nathan Boynton, a Civil War major and Michigan politician who became one of the area's first settlers in 1895. Native Americans once inhabited this land, leaving behind an ancient burial mound with artifacts dating back to around 150 BCE.
The first non-indigenous settlers arrived in 1877 when Dexter Hubel and his family made Boynton Beach their home. Major Boynton's arrival in 1895 marked the beginning of significant development, including the construction of the Boynton Hotel and the influx of settlers from Michigan. The town's official incorporation took place in 1920, with further growth in the 1950s and westward expansion in the 1980s.
Today, Boynton Beach is the third-most populous city in Palm Beach County, following Boca Raton and West Palm Beach. The city's southern section, along Congress Avenue, is teeming with restaurants and retail stores, including the Boynton Beach Mall, Boynton Town Center, and Renaissance Commons.
Boynton Beach also boasts a rich cultural scene, featuring establishments like the Boynton Woman's Club and the Schoolhouse Children's Museum & Learning Center.
